Renowned pianist and conductor Daniel Barenboim recently announced the cancellation of his highly anticipated North American Tour with the Staatskapelle Berlin.
"I was very much looking forward to returning to this tour," said Barenboim, "but my health simply does not allow me to undertake the strenuous transatlantic travel and the many domestic trips required for this tour."
Giedrė Šlekytė will replace Barenboim in Toronto on November 25 and 26, Jakub Hrůša will replace him in Chicago on November 28, and Yannick Nézet-Séguin will conduct the concerts at New York's Carnegie Hall on November 30 and December 1.
A great music, an inspiration to all classical music fans; very sad we will not see him in NYC. Sending best wishes to him for a speedy recovery and hope he is back on the podium soon.
Very sad about Daniel. What a great man he has been in classical music. I have been a devotee since the 1960s.
