It was recently announced by the Vienna Philharmonic that Canadian conductor Yannick Nézet-Séguin will conduct the 2023 Sommernachtkonzert at Schönbrunn Palace for the first time, following Andris Nelsons' excellent performance in 2022. The concert will take place on Thursday, June 8, at 8:30 PM CET.
The programme will be dominated by French composers, including works by Georges Bizet, Camille Saint-Saëns, Charles Gounod, Maurice Ravel, Lili Boulanger, and Hector Berlioz. Maestro Nézet-Séguin will be joined by star mezzo-soprano Elina Garanča, who will sing three arias from Bizet's"Carmen", Gounod's"Sapho", and Saint-Saëns's "Samson et Dalila."
